Some of the commandments of our Jesus Christ in comparison with those of the Law Mat 5:-
Mat 5:21-22 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.' But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire."
1. Do not be angry with your brother without a cause
When you get angry without a cause, you have sowed bitterness and hatred in him, for he knows that he had been accused wrongly. This injustice may destroy his faith in God, for with vengeance in mind, he will live in misery and in total darkness.
Brethren, you have just murdered a brother
2. Do not call names - 'Raca' or 'Fool'
When you are angry, the chances of you calling names is high, for this name calling will really cause your brother to hate you. You become his bitter enemy. This hatred will send him to be judged and possibly damnation.
3. Reconcile with Brother
Mat 5:23-24 "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift."
When you have hurt someone, there is no point worshipping God when the person hurt is filled with bitterness and blaming God for your sinful behaviour. Apologise so that his faith in God is restored.
4. Be humble for agreement
Mat 5:25-26 "Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny."
When in conflict it is better to be humble so that the adversary will not be unreasonable nor angry. Peace and agreement can easily be reached instead of hatred and warfare..
5. No Lustful look at women
Mat 5:27-28 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
You don't need to commit adultery to be convicted. Our Lord Jesus judges our heart and the lustful look at a woman reveals your wanton heart. To prevent sexual immorality, we must not look at anyone lustfully.
Mat 5:29-30 "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell."
Sexual immorality is the lust of the flesh and an addiction or bondage that is difficult to be free. It is similar to addiction to drugs and alcohol. If a person cannot rid his addiction, the cutting off of hands or plucking out of eyes may set him free.
Thank God for the grace and truth of our Lord Jesus that the truth will set us free, and no damage to hands or eyes needed.
John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
