Mat 7:6 "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces."
Who are the Dogs?
2 Pet 2:20-22 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit", and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire."
Dogs represents depraved Christians, including pastors and leaders, who had believed the gospel of Jesus and had understood the way to righteousness, and yet they can forsake His holy commandments of love, mercy, forgiveness, godliness, humility, generosity, holiness, etc. and return back to the worldly wickedness.
Why did they fall?
Deceived for Rejecting Truth
2 The 2:9-10 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
It is so clear that all those deceived or apostates refuse to accept the truth of the love of God. Brethren, unless we believe and understand the love of God for men, we will not be able to overcome the deceptions of the devil.
The love story of God for men was from the very onset of the creation of Adam and Eve and in return He wanted our love for Him. Being a just and righteous God, He gave men commandments so that from them He (we too) can judge our love for Him.
John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments."
Truth of the Love
Mat 22:37-40 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
Commandments and teachings in the Law and the Prophets are fulfilled with our :-
1. Love for God
2. Love for Men
Our Lord Jesus had given us His words and commandments so that He (we too) can judge our love for Him. Just before His crucifixion, He commanded us to imitate Him.
John 15:12 "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."
Dog returns to its own Vomit
Eph 2:1-3 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Unfortunately, heresies and distorted truth have destroyed Christians by leading them back to carnality, worldliness and covetousness, causing many to lose their salvation.
Love God and Men
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
Brethren, let's not be dogs but love God and men by keeping His words and commandments, otherwise deceptions may condemn us.
