What Is The Work Of God (SD28)

John 6:27-29 "Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
Our Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples to labor for food leading to everlasting life. They are to labor to believe in Him whom God had sent.

1. Deliverance from idolatry
Deut 18:10-12  "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you."
Once we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and we are saved, then we must labor to ensure that we do not go back to worship idols, spirits, demons, etc. We thank God that He has given us the Holy Spirit to help and keep us from worshipping these abominations.

2. Deliverance from sins
Rom 1:28-32  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
Once we believe that the blood of Jesus has cleansed us of all our sins, we must labor to recognize and know the sins, and then we must also labor to be free from them. We thank God that He will give us the Spirit of truth to help us overcome sins if we labor to love Him by obeying His commandments.

2Tim 3:16-17  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Brethren, when we obey His words (Scriptures), then we are equipped for every good work.

1Pet 5:10  But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
After we have suffered a while laboring to obey Him, we will be perfected, etc. to overcome all the wiles and temptations of Satan

Jam 2:19-20, 26  You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?... For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

The demons want Satan to be God, so they refuse to accept the Almighty as the only God.

Brethren, in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you. (Tit 2:7-8)
