Law - Animal Sacrifice (SD13)

Mat 5:17-18  “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."

The OT is the Law of Moses and the Prophets which is commonly referred to as the law. Since our Lord Jesus fulfilled the law, we too must ensure that we fulfill the law through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fulfillment of Animal Sacrifice

Heb 9:13-14  For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice sent by the Father and He was offered once at Calvary for the cleansing of all our sins by the precious blood of Jesus. Animal sacrifices are no longer needed.

Heb 9:28  so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Curses from Adam's sin

Gen 3:17-19  Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”

Because of the sin of Adam, God cursed the ground so that whatever man plants :-

1. thorns and thistles (weeds, reeds, lalang, etc.) will grow giving us a lot of problems, hard work, headaches, pains, sufferings, etc.

We thank God that our Lord Jesus remove this curse from us by Himself suffering from the bleeding caused by the thorns piercing His head hit with the reed.

Mat 27:29-30  When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.

2. sweat in the face for the hard labour to earn our livelihood.

We thank God for His love for us for removing this curse from us. He requested the angel to prevent Him from fainting or dying for His great agony was far beyond human endurance until He sweated blood.

Mat 22:43-44  Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Gal 3:13  Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),

Christians are no longer under curse.

Brethren, therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. (1Pet 4:1-3)
